Keeping moving , whether this is through structured exercise or simply being active with what you would ordinarily do in the day, has a huge impact on health and happiness.  Read on to find out more about how much, which type and tips on how to integrate this into your life

How big an impact does being physically active really have?

According  to  the  Chief  Medical  Officer's Report (2019)

”If physical activity were a drug, we would refer to it as a miracle cure, due to the great many illnesses it can prevent and help treat”

These include:

  • Dementia
  • Depression
  • 8 types of cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • Weight status
  • Anxiety
  • Sleep
  • Cognitive function
  • All cause mortality

So, we all know that being active is a positive, but how much do we need?  How often do we need to exercise? What type? And does it matter if we bunch it all up into two days and do nothing the rest of the time?  Is High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) any good? How long does each period of exertion have to be before it counts towards my exercise quota: 5minutes, 10 minutes or half an hour?

We have been asked all of these questions, and so we've answered them all in the articles.

Send us a message if you have any others!
