Following a significant life-upheaval event I started to get extremely anxious about my health and excessively fear the future, with an almost crippling effect on my state of mind. I was worrying about what could lie ahead whilst also looking back and regretting so many of the bad health habits I’d gotten into along the way. All of this whilst suddenly living alone … during a lockdown.
Sundhya was truly wonderful, empathetic and offered unique insight into these experiences. Sundhya gave me tools that helped to relieve me of my anxious thought patterns, but moreover instilled in me a new belief in how I could live a healthier and happier life through optimising my food and diet, but moreover through identifying and connecting with my values and being more conscious in the present moment.
For the first time in my life I feel a stronger sense of purpose, feel empowered to make better decisions, feel more informed and awake to the choices that we make, and reinvigorated by a greater sense of purpose in living more consciously and being aware of each moment.
Not only has my diet and lifestyle been overhauled, but waking up each morning knowing that the decisions I will make are rooted in a healthier and truer reflection of myself has been truly inspiring.

My husband is diabetic and about 12 years ago his GP was considering prescribing insulin injections to manage his diabetes.
We were both quite shocked as he was in his early forties at the time. He resolved to do something about this and we were referred to the NHS DESMOND service. We both made some changes.
Looking at wider family members my husband knew the effects of ill managed diabetes could be quite severe and so he was highly motivated to stave off illness for as long as he could.
This is the point at which our journey with Dr Sundhya Raman started. Dr Raman explained the impact each of his lifestyle choices were having on his diabetes. Armed with this info he made efforts to quit smoking (achieved), exercise more (achieved) and follow a whole food plant based diet (80% achieved).
He has reversed macular degeneration, reversed kidney protein leakage, no longer takes statins and has reduced his diabetic medication by a third.
Her encouragement motivated him to make lifestyle changes and seeing test results changes motivated him to make further changes. She was as excited and happy for him as he was for himself. She has been a rock and a motivator at his low points and rejoiced at his achievements. She understands how daily life (work, relationships etc.) can get in the way of determination and suggested tools we can use to recharge and we truly felt we were in this together with her.
